i wish i had the faith that you do in our congress but i think the democrats aim too low for what is needed to really affect change for working and poor people. i have no health insurance and the fact that i could be fined for not being able to afford health insurance is worrisome. i don't think a for profit plan is the answer. read what dennis kucinch has to say. he was on democracy now on monday.you can read or listen to him if you would like. thank you though for your input kathy.

it's not over till it's over...I'm confident that we will get as much as possible of what we want...you have to remember that this fight has been going on for 40 years!...a bill must be passed andeven if it is not "perfect" it is a start...if we don't get a bill passed there will be no change...and another 40 years before anyone has the guts to try again

Keith Ellison for Congress Keith joins House majority in voting to expedite credit card consumer protections

bit.ly
WASHINGTON, D.C.— The U.S. House voted this week to expedite credit-card consumer protections, which President Obama signed into law earlier this year, after credit card companies began raising interest rates in advance of the legislation’s start date.
Mujaahidah Sayfullah
Mujaahidah Sayfullah
This credit card issue is so far gone....the credit card companies are getting so much benefit still! The interest rates are ridiculous. The only way consumers will benefit is with a no interest credit card and it be fee based annually. Otherwise the 19-29% interest the credit card companies are charging will keep consumers in debt for a very long time.

I just received notice from Citibank yesterday of a significant hike in my rates - even though I pay off my card in full each month. It is now up to 29% interest - and that's on the rotating charges! The cash advances are worse! I was more than a little pissed about this.

Thanks, Keith, for your work!!

I think people should just not get credit cards. Unless the like being indentured servants, that is.
