This is too funny! Imaging Target like a church...but it's so true...i have been toying with branding and naming the different programs--trouble is that it takes so long for the new name to catch on--even when it's not a particularly clever name (such as switching from Nursery to Early Childhood). Is it necessary?

In 2010, I want to see the level of communication about children's ministry in our church raised a notch or two (or dozen).  I'm still praying and thinking through the details of what this looks like, but what I'm aiming for is for the leadership and congregation to not... only say, "Of course, ch......

There is an awesome new website that just came out called ApostolicChildrensMinistry.com. It's for ministers that really want to take it up a notch in childrens ministry and they have some pretty creative ideas for teachers   Has anybody else seen this site? I really like some of the articles......

When I started, they were in their own world.  They didn't associate with anyone but their own teachers.  It really bugged me and after asking a few kids, it bothered them too!  They missed the rotations and didn't understand why they were in their own classes.  So, I slowly in... (more)

It is very difficult to teach to kids of all different ages at the same time. They are in very different developmental stages and children of different ages learn in different ways. The best scenario would be to split the kids into two groups...

I always shoot a little higher than 7-8yrs ... closer to 10 years old. If your stuff is cool enuf for that age group the younger ones will be won by thier engaged example (within reason of caus) wateva u do it is more advisable to bring children up to a level than expect them to come down to a level (wen I do bring it down to a younger level that ... See Moreis wen u engage the older children by encouraging participation and support of the younger ones) ... the most important aspects are balance and relevance. Always be creative about providing opportunities for children to lean into one another.

Our teens are awesome! We actually start them before they are teens. The children are encouraged to be involved in the singing and leading of music. They are also our puppeteers, ushers and run the computer for our power point. Our teens also aid in the classrooms. They are required to be involved in a ministry in order to participate in missions trips.

Not sure about that ... but we are getting ready to do a TOY STORY stage setting and it has nothing to do with #3 movie. We are doing it because we are using clips from the 1st 2 movies in talking about friendship, community and the spiritual gifts in a willowcreek curriculum series. We are all very excited and have designed a HUGE bed (corner) and the toys are life size ... we unveil it next week ... January we'll be "Doin' Life TOGETHER" Guess you could use that curriculum for VBS ..
