What has four paws, lots of energy, and loves to play? Clara! She is a one year old Basset Hound mix that would be well suited to a home with older children. She’ll never say no to spending time with you, but remember her favourite thing to do is go for a walk.
Typical of her breed, Clara loves to follow her nose and a...ny scents she finds interesting. She can be trained, but may need a treat as a reward or motivation. True to her breed, Clara is vocal and loves to howl. She also might whine in a low tone to get your attention! She has quite a unique personality and the Staff and Volunteers have fallen in love with her. They will be sad to see her go, but will be happy when she finds her forever home.

Hi, my name is Tonka and my life has been quite the experience so far; this fall, I was hit by a car. Fortunately, someone called the Humane Society and an Animal Services Officer came and took me to a veterinarian. Luckily my worst injury was a cracked pallet (roof of my mouth) but the vet said, with the proper care, ...I would be good as new. I am so thankful to the Animal Care Staff at the Centre who spoon fed me, and helped me along my way to recovery! I’m a little shy at first, but I’m sure that we could become the best of friends.Read More

Do you find yourself sitting on the edge of your seat during an action movie eagerly anticipating the next scene? If so, there might be just the dog for you at the KWHS. Cooper is a 10 month old German Shepherd Siberian Husky mix that’s always right in the middle of the action. In fact, the Staff at the Centre think ac...tion is Cooper’s middle name.
When a new face comes into the Centre, Cooper is the first to investigate! He really enjoys meeting new people and isn’t shy. His friendly and inviting personality makes playing any game more fun. Don’t be surprised how he can run for miles and then come home to the backyard and want to chase a ball.
Cooper will never be MIA- missing in action- because when you’re ready to go for a walk or run he’ll be right on your heels. You can be sure that he’ll keep you motivated to get your exercise since he is always ready for action.

A personal assistant is one way the KWHS categorize the personality of a cat. This type of cat likes to help its owner do everything around the house. They may want to help press the computer keys, turn the newspaper page, or just be there to relax after a long day at work. Sonny is a great example of this type of pers...onality! He’s a male cat that has already been neutered with beautiful brown tabby markings. He just had celebrated his fourth birthday and his wish was for a home that would give him lots of love and attention.

Kitchener-Waterloo Humane Society Would like to thank the Heppler Family for their kind donation of office supplies! Thanks from all of the KWHS staff!

Kitchener-Waterloo Humane Society Dear Fans please pass the following information on to your friends, family and co-workers. Right now we are in need of kitten milk replacer (KMR), kitten nursing bottles and nipples. Usually in the fall the number of orphaned kittens coming into our care significantly decreases; it would appear that this fall is an exception. Dry dog and puppy food is also upon the urgent list of things that we require.

Cats have very unique personalities. Some cats like to be adventurous, some love to cuddle, while others are independent. Independent is a great way to describe Maui, a one year old female brown tabby. She may like to hide and check out her new home until she is comfortable.
She is the kind of cat that will always watch over your home and stay out of trouble. She’ll give you years of security, love and affection.
