LACMA Los Angeles County Museum of Art We hacked into eighteenth-century still life master Luis Mélendez’s Twitter feed and will be sharing some of his tweets. Follow Luis on our Twitter account (twitter.com/LACMA) all day today to get the story of his (mostly miserable) life and stop by the museum soon to see his exhibition, which closes January 3.

Followers of our Twitter account know that we have three able tweeters here at LACMA—Allison, Devi, and Erin. In light of the impending Turkey Day this week, we thought we’d give them a break today and turn Twitter over to an art- and food-obsessed guest.

LACMA Los Angeles County Museum of Art One of our favorite blog posts in a long time -- a member of our Photography department tracks down the original locations shot by New Topographics photographers in the '70s. Take a look at what these sites look like today.

Those of us who are from Los Angeles are lucky enough that several of the photographs in New Topographics: Photographs of a Man-Altered Landscape are in fact our very own man-altered landscape. While the ...

How about a challenge? Tell us where in Los Angeles Frank Gohlke & Henry Wessel took the photographs featured at the end of the post. Leave a comment if you know the intersection or take a pic yourself and give us the link.

I love the concept of the original exhibit ("New Topographics"). I used to eat up courses on the urban landscape while in school-- not to mention the tours like the one Shannon Ebner is leading (Wish I could be there Nov. 22nd!). I really appreciate the current views of some of the sites, side-by-side. It must have been fun to revisit. A lot of work, for sure, but fun.

LACMA Los Angeles County Museum of Art Behind the Scenes at LACMA is back! In this segment, Annie and Christine take you into one of LACMA’s most popular events: the Muse Costume Ball. With the many intricate costumes that graced our campus, this clip is a real feast for the eyes. Thanks to attendees who, throughout the years, have put so much thought and e...ffort into their outfits, the Ball has developed a great reputation for showcasing some of the best costumes in town.
