Lamar University Speech and Hearing Sciences will treat patients for the voice changes that often accompany Parkinson's disease with help from a grant from the Steinhagen Benevolent Trust. Participants in the month-long Parkinson's at Lamar (PAL) program attend the simple but effective program.

Lamar University Former Chicago Bulls three-time NBA All-Star Bob Love shared his motivational life story on campus Monday night in LU's Academic Lecture Series. He shared his experiences in overcoming the challenge of stuttering to become a national spokesperson.
Lamar University LU mechanical engineering majors Matt Morrison and Danny Iles have been racking up the prizes for LU Fishing and will be headed to Natchitoches, La., Nov. 14-16 to compete in the National Guard FLW College Fishing Regional Championship bass tournament where they'll compete for $25,000 in prizes for the student bass-fishing club. FLW College Fishing is the country’s largest tournament-fishing competition for college bass clubs, where they compete for lucrative scholarships and prizes and a chance to compete in the $2.5 million Forrest Wood Cup in 2010.
Lamar University Lamar's business program will be featured in the Princeton Review's 2010 edition of 'The Best 301 Business Schools.' Dean Venta said it "is indication that our growth in numbers is supported by a quality program." Kudos to all in the business college!
Lamar University Lamar's students who completed the online M.Ed. program passed the principals exams at a higher rate than the state average. Those who took the exams in spring and summer 2009 averaged 20 points higher than students statewide. Ninety six percent of Lamar's 484 online master's degree students passed the TExES, the exam required for principal certification.

Lamar University Coach Ray Woodard has been tapped for the Kilgore College Hall of Fame where he played and coached in the '80s and '90s. After playing for KC, Woodard played on scholarship at the University of Texas, then played five seasons in the NFL. Congrats to Coach Woodard!
