We knew it was coming — with all the recent growth, commencement has become so large (and lengthy) that it is now time to divide commencement into two ceremonies. This December will be the first, beginning at 7:30 p.m., Friday, Dec. 18 for graduates in the Colleges of Arts and Sciences, Business and Engineering. Satur...day, graduates in the Colleges of Education and Human Development, Fine Arts and Communication and General Studies will begin their ceremony at 9:30 a.m. In the Spring, both commencement ceremonies will be held on Saturday, at 9:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m., with the same breakdown by colleges.Read More

Lamar University Dr. Dorothy Sisk delivered Lamar's Distinguished Faculty Lecture last night on the topic of Making Great Kids Greater: Easing the Burden of Being Gifted. Sisk is professor of professional pedagogy and holds the Conn Chair for Gifted Education. The DFL series is sponsored by ExxonMobil.
