Hi everyone!! I am a local artist and my daughter bought tickets for me and her younger sister Jenni!! Jenni's birthday is the day after the event!! Looking forward to this event. Who does'nt love meeting new people, eating wonderful food and silient auctions??

My daughter's Amy and Emily had a booth at "The Farmers Market" in the artist's section this summer!! Amy and Emily create beautiful custom made framed chalk boards, coat hooks with vintage findings, frames and more!! My gir's are donating one of their beatiful frames to this event!!

I will be donating several of my paintings, unframed. I am a collage, mixed media artist. I am published in 22 Stampington Art magazines!! Some of you other collage artist's may reconigise their magazine names Somerset, Belle Armoire, Altered Couture, Somerset Jewelry, Memories, Where women Create, just a of their publications. Quite amazing for an old 59 year grandma of 4 to have been juried into these first class publications!! By the way publisher Jo Packham is the creater of Stampington's "Where Women Create!! ... Rico bought one of my paintings almost 8 or nine years ago at a similar event!! All of you artist's who have a piece of art sitting around, donate it!!

I am counting the days until "Local First Event". Looking forward to meeting new friends in this beautiful community.

Walmart's Latest Move to Crush the Competition

I needed a specific kind of craft/fabric supply a couple of weeks ago for a rush order. I drove and called around to 4 different area craft and fabric stores within 25 miles of my home. None of tgem carried thus simple basic craft item! As a last ditch effort I called Walmart -- they had it and gladly saved it for me. If you want to compete, you have to have the products the customers need!

Wal-Mart sells the one-stop shopping experience. Too often, it's a nightmare. Prices aren't marked and you have to hike 1/4 mile to find a price reader; customer service people often can't be found. A pair of glasses I bought there fell apart regularly. (Never again!) In food they often stock only their own brands-- and their fresh produce ... Read Moretastes like cardboard.

No matter how big Wal-Mart gets, there's one thing they can't be: small. That's an opportunity for small business owners, because we're selling something different-- or at least, we ought to be: better quality, excellent and personalized service. Maybe we can't compete on toilet paper or DVDs. So we fill the niches and cater to people who want something better than the Wal-Mart experience.
