Bert Ricci

Bert Ricci Finally got my GURPS VK. while I've not checked out the gaming aspects of the book yet, I did a page by page look at the pictures of Our People. I give it a definite OK. From a solid "Oh Yes" for the Cavilo pic, to a series of "Yeah, okay" for others: Aral, Gregor, Laisa, et al.- mainly I'm glad that none of them tur...ned me off. I accept them all. The one I'm the most doubtful about is Lady Alys Vorpatril. The woman in the picture looked too much the glamor lady. True, she might still scorch the paint off the bulkhead when she glared, but the pic was on the light side. (& i know someone who channels Alys.)

I agree with your review! Star Trek in name only. TOS was about ideas and characters. The only good comment I have about this remake was the audience's audible reaction of joy (and relief) when Leonard Nimoy appeared on screen.

ha mark im your opposite what i liked the most was kirks warriors apprenticeish positioning to command . J J the director(as he likes to be called) says he was not a fan which explains why his normally quality merging of smart shooting, crisp campy dialogue(good name for a band) and phoned in(just let the intern write it)plots were a ... See Moreuncomfortable fit over the bloated(corpse?) fanon of trek. a waste i say of Hollywood capital not source material not when theres Miles boldly going. but there still that tricky issue of filming internal dialogue dam

So... Here's a neat little review that I ran across this morning in one of my moments of idle randomness, some years old apparently, summing up the most important element of _Falling Free_.

First you're referinced in writing Bio-Ethical guidlines and laws that actually try to look foward by taking into account medical research that's happened in the last 20 years but also what's indicated within the last few months.

And now you're getting ref'd to wack wanabe engineers over the head with responsablility exercises.

Good! Better chance that they'll read and remember it then a chapter in one of five textbooks halfway through their third year....

So...I was increasingly intrigued in my recent sampling of Bollywood, especially in Aaja Nachle, by the movie music and dance, which is clearly a vigorous hybrid of local and Western influences. I kn...

I see the interview I did recently for a French website is now up: http://www.actusf.com/spip/article-8511.html They seem confused about my surname, again, which is Bujold. I get that a lot....

Skin Tight (1989) by Carl HiaasenMuch the same mode of comedy-satire-thriller as the later Skinny Dip; Hiaasen may be a writer not well served by reading too many too close together. I did get to see...

Christopher Moore's books are great, and much the same. Better with a bit space between each read.

I've read all of Hiaasen, great good fun--including his YA novels (Hoot, Flush, and Scat). Avoid his copycat, Tim Dorsey, unless you want to see a great example of someone trying to write like someone else and failing.

Lois McMaster Bujold Bujold reading, Minneapolis, Dec. 11th
While I'm on the subject...

I will be doing what has become my annual reading for the Speculations Reading Series at DreamHaven Books & Comics on Friday, Dec. 11th at 6:30 PM. From CryoBurn again, probably, though I will likely take a vote, and if everyone there has heard Chapter ...One already, have something else up my sleeve.

A reminder, DreamHaven usually has or can get signed copies of most of my titles for mail orders.
