Lone Star Park Slick Little Beduino, owned by Danny R. Caldwell, and trained by Alvin Lee Turner, won the 10th Running of the $15,000, 100-yard, Gridiron Gallop Handicap, for three-year-olds and upward, over a fast track at Lone Star Park on Saturday, October 31.

With Rudy Bustamante in the irons, the sorrel son of Struttin to Beduino... broke sharp and finished fast to beat his nine opponents while tripping the teletimer in 6.343, a new track record, good for a speed index of 108. Calientes Wrangler finished a head back in second and it was another head back to last years Gridiron Gallop winner, Anna Pavlova, in third.

Lone Star Park Jose Ramiro Villareal’s Tempting Dash, trained by Eusevio Huitron and ridden by Julian Cantu, set a track record of 19.379 seconds for 400 yards to win the Grade 1, $445,185 Dash for Cash Futurity, for 2-year-olds, over a fast track at Lone Star Park on Saturday, October 24.

With the victory, trainer Eusevio Huitron swe...pt both Grade 1 stakes of the night, the Futurity and the $202,200 Dash for Cash Derby.

With the win, Tempting Dash is two-for-two lifetime, including his victory in the trials, and increased his career earnings to $180,088 with the $178,078 winner’s share.

Lone Star Park Malinche Cattle Co. Inc.’s Charal Kid, trained by Eusevio Huitron, won the 11th running of the Grade 1, $202,200 Dash for Cash Derby, for three-year-olds, over a fast track at Lone Star Park on Saturday night.

With Santos Carrizales in the irons, Charal Kid quickly sprinted to the lead and never looked back in completin...g the 440-yard assignment in 21.498 seconds to earn a Speed Index of 98. It was a ½-length back to odds-on favorite Stolis Winner. “I have a lot of respect for the runner-up,” said winning jockey Santos Carrizales, “but my horse gave me everything he had and ran great tonight.”

In winning the Dash for Cash Derby, Charal Kid recorded his sixth victory from 13 career starts and, with the $80,880 winner’s share of the purse, he boosted his career earnings to $186,422.
