A decent back of the envelope approximation for how many independent trials it'll take for an event with likelihood 1 in N (starts to be OK with N greater than about 10) to be 50% likely to occur is 2/3*N. If we say for simplicity 10,000 people are in this contest, you can expect to have 2/3*10,000 = 6,667 drawings before you'd have a 50% chance of likely being selected. That's more than 18 years at one winner per day and there are probably more than 10,000 entrants. So don't feel bad.

Great idea to create one of these, and Maclife's recommendations for maintenance & emergency utilities are pretty good. Particularly Diskwarrior ... every Mac user should own a copy, and keep a bootable copy in their notebook bag (which this SD card trick is perfect for). In my Mac consulting days, simply running Diskwarrior would fix around 80% of my service calls.
