I know Mad Men is on it's 3rd season (Congrats!) and I am late to the party (Just finished the 1st season). To be honest I wasn't sure if the characters were going to draw me in especially January Jones but boy was I wrong. If you haven't seen Mad Men, go rent it today... Oh, and girls try not to stare too hard at Jon or should I say Mr. Draper...:)

I was shocked to learn the viewing numbers of Mad Men. It's relatively small considering that it's won awards for the best drama for a couple of years now. I think Ariana is correct in blaming AMC for this poor PR showing. Perhaps they just don't have the experience ... and through sheer luck ended up with this blockbuster of a show. I'm not sure, but I don't remember HBO doing a lot of "stuff" for The Sopranos....word of mouth did it for that show (and the awards, of course). I personally have turned so many people on to this show, and they in turn have told their friends ... so maybe that's all it will take. It is kind of nice to have a good "niche-y" type show though...I think it keeps the writing at a higher level.

That's a great idea Arlana...My favorite episode is the Gypsy and the Hobo. There were some comic scenes throughout. My favorite is when Betty is talking to the family lawyer and her brother cries out when he finds the door is shut. Also the ending to this episode is classic!

Is it AMC that isn't parlaying the proper promotion for this show around the networks (scheduling more MAD MEN group sessions; this week Good Morning America or the Today Show had the cast on from the late ALLY MCBEAL show celebrating a 10th anniversary! A worthy nod to the creative minds for having given our culture an Ally McBeal in the 90s, a Moonlighting in the 80s and now, the coup de grace: the very comfortably "retro" MAD MEN for the post modern, post Millennium era (2007, 2008, 2009 and on and on we certainly hope, marching right on through the next decade and into the 90s!) Just finished composing a post on the blog of James Lipton to propose a terrific, MAD MEN themed "round table group session" on the stage set of Pace University (where its shows have been broadcast of late), comprised of producer-creator-writer Matthew Weiner heading the outstanding cast which would include Jon Hamm (Don Draper as the alter ego of Dick Whitman), January Jones (Betty Draper), Elizabeth Moss (Peggy), Vincent Kartheiser (Pete), Christina Henricks (Joan), John Slattery (Roger Sterling) and Robert Morse (Ben Cooper). This is a gem of an idea worthy of generating 90-120 packed minutes of "sterling" conversation alternated by advertisements which tip the hat to the nuances propogated on the show. Ideally, if Mr. Lipton could be persuaded to be disposed to it, the show would be broadcast early enough to air in the few weeks preceding the Golden Globe Awards this January (2010).At the very least, a few weeks before the start of Season 4. That MAD MEN still produces curious questions and an arched eyebrow or an "haven't heard of it" remark at the close of Season 3 has only ONE factor to blame: AMC and/or the crew involved in producing MAD MEN. Clearly the successful production work is not being matched with the effective merchandising of its valuable wares elsewhere.

Will someone, anyone, tell me what happened in the last 15 min. of the last episode???

The Grown Ups- Maybe the best episode yet! The Kennedy Assassination was the 9/11 of it's time. How America changed on that day.
