The Marching Virginians made a very special detour on their way to Atlanta for the VT vs. Alabama Game. They stopped at Lakeside High School in Evans, GA, to participate in an event to remember Ryan "Stack" Clark (Ryan played baritone at Lakeside and graduated from LHS in 2002). The MVs played the National Anthem with ...the Lakeside and Evans marching bands before the Lakeside vs. Evans football game, and then performed again in front of a record crowd at halftime.Read More

You put you left in, you pull you left foot out, you put your left foot in and you shake all about; You do the Hokie Pokie and you turn yourself about; That's what is it's all about. As old Drum Major back in '82. Still love the dancing tubas. Go MV's

After a long series of chemotherapy treatments that put his leukemia into remission, Zach was given the chance to have a wish granted by the Make-A-Wish Foundation. While many kids pick vacations or the chance to meet celebrities, Zach chose to attend a Virginia Tech football game with the Marching Virginians. He wore ...his high school marching band uniform, paraded into the stadium, played in the stands, and got to play the Hokie Pokie on the field during halftime (after his name was announced over the PA system and over 65,000 Hokies fans cheered for him!) At the end of the day, Zach went home with a drum head signed by the band, Frank Beamer's autograph on a football, and a big smile on his face.Read More

The Marching Virginians - The Spirit of Tech On August 30th, 2009, Tau Beta Sigma hosted their First Annual MV Field Day Classic. It was a lot of fun and a great way to start the season! Four teams competed: 1st Place - Green Team, 2nd Place - Yellow Hazards, 3rd Place - Pink Decepticons, and 4th Place - Blue Barracudas.

From sit-down practices inside of Cassell Coliseum to outside marching practice on the MV field, a practice or two in the fieldhouse, and even a football scrimmage, our band camp is not only preparation for the year's performances, but also a way to get to know each other. During the first week of classes, the MVs prac...tice in Lane Stadium for the first time. This practice gives us a chance to play in the stadium before game day.Read More

The Marching Virginians - The Spirit of Tech Notice anything different about the MV trumpets this week? The days of mismatched trumpets and student horns getting damaged are over. Thanks again to our wonderful donor in GA whose generous gift enabled us to buy these new trumpets! They sound GREAT!

It was *GREAT* seeing everyone again! Being an MV was truly the greatest time of my life, and it was awesome to reconnect with friends I shared my experiences with and swap stories with older/newer alumni. The Spirit of Tech lives on in each and every member. Past, present and FUTURE.
