Maurice Hinchey I have formally submitted comments to the NYS DEC in response to the agency's draft findings for how horizontal drilling and high-volume hydraulic fracturing to obtain natural gas in the Marcellus Shale would impact the environment and affect the quality of life for state residents. I'm just glad Hinchey is worrying about the environment in his own state for a change (rather than, say, UTAH).

Mr. Hinchey can do-or try to do-whatever he wants in New York, At least his actions will directly affect the people that elected him. And if those people that elected him, don't like what he is doing-or trying to do-they can vote him out of office. As opposed to when he is sponsoring bills that affect people on the other side of the country (like, say, UTAH), the people of Utah-whom his legislation will directly affect-have no power to vote him out of office if they don't like what he is doing-trying to do (and the majority of the state doesn't like what he is trying to do).

I'm speaking, of course, about the so called "red rock bill", which will turn 9.5 Millions acres of Utah public land to "wilderness". ... See More

Mr. Hinchey, stay out of Utah...And to all of Mr. Hinchey's constituents, I call on you to demand that he do so. It's not fair to you, and it certainly isn't fair to Utah.

Congressman Hinchey Praises Public Access Circa 2001

In 2001, Saugerties’ hometown congressman Maurice Hinchey promoted Cantine Mill property as an opportunity for Saugerties’ citizens to take advantage of the magnificent views of historic Cantine Dam, which is in the heart of Saugerties’ Historic Business District.

Now, in 2009 congressman Hinchey dismisses requests for public access to the same Cantine Mill site stating its location as “…not even the best view of the falls.” Eight (8) years makes a big difference, especially when you are one of the Partition Street Project’s (Cantine Mill) present owners.... We’re genuinely proud of our hometown congressman. He’s been a tireless advocate for Hudson Valley and its natural resources. Please help us convince Maurice that Saugerties is worth the extra effort to make the Partition Street Project better for Saugerties citizens and our business district. Your note should read "to complete its first stage..." "It's" is a contraction substituting for "it is." "Its" is the possessive. I'll let it go as everyone wants to leave DC for the holidays...LOL

I am not in financial trouble yet, but am concerned about the power the banks have after (we the tax payer) bailed them out. This is not true capitalism, because they we not allowed to go under (thanks, that would have been terrible), but they are as bad as the Mafia. 30% interest rates. I paid my bill on a credit card in full last month, then a... See More get a $1 balance, because I didn't pay the balance in full for 2 months in a row. If I fail to pay the $1, then I get a $15 fee. I'm canceling that card, but this is how the banks which the tax payer, bailed out are treating the customers, the tax payers. And then I hear they are getting 40% bonus jumps. I will look very closly at all the laws that each Politician vows on, more than I have ever checked in the past. Please work for the people. We need bank reform (bank regulation at all levels, in support of the people), since we the people are backing them now and in the future, or no rules and we let them go under if they fail. We need more honesty and a value in the banking system. Should we go back to paying with cash only? That would stall the economy. The banks created a great country by supporting home ownership, under great governmental leadership. Will we have a great country in the future, will the people feel they are part of the country. Our military is the people, and without a strong country, the banks will be nothing.
