D.j., I get your frustration, I really do, but Mr. Hinchey's a part of the House Committee on Natural Resources, so he'd have to get into issues that don't directly impact New York.

Frank, read my posts again. You'll see I characterized my own original post as facetious, but an illustration of the concept that we all benefit from things like the military, much like we benefit from having a fire department, in that they're both there if we need them. Not a perfect analogy, but it comes close. I appreciate your passionate support of the military and encourage lively debate, but getting rude with strangers will make most people tune you out than listen to your arguments.

The only things I remember about Newburgh are a very big bridge over the Hudson and an even bigger prison, so congrats on creating jobs to restore a cultural icon.

lets hope something works. My college educated kids, nieces, nephews and other immediate family members are jobless and without health insurance. This isn't a recession, its a depression!!

I am not in financial trouble yet, but am concerned about the power the banks have after (we the tax payer) bailed them out. This is not true capitalism, because they we not allowed to go under (thanks, that would have been terrible), but they are as bad as the Mafia. 30% interest rates. I paid my bill on a credit card in full last month, then a... See More get a $1 balance, because I didn't pay the balance in full for 2 months in a row. If I fail to pay the $1, then I get a $15 fee. I'm canceling that card, but this is how the banks which the tax payer, bailed out are treating the customers, the tax payers. And then I hear they are getting 40% bonus jumps. I will look very closly at all the laws that each Politician vows on, more than I have ever checked in the past. Please work for the people. We need bank reform (bank regulation at all levels, in support of the people), since we the people are backing them now and in the future, or no rules and we let them go under if they fail. We need more honesty and a value in the banking system. Should we go back to paying with cash only? That would stall the economy. The banks created a great country by supporting home ownership, under great governmental leadership. Will we have a great country in the future, will the people feel they are part of the country. Our military is the people, and without a strong country, the banks will be nothing.

Privitization is part of what's devastating the US economy. We don't need any more Halliburton or Blackwater businesses stealing from the taxpayer. Excellent work Representative Hinchey!
