I found Mr Gregory's question to Henry Paulson about how he voted for President to be inelegant and, frankly, unintelligent. There have been much better MTP hosts.

It's funny how the main stream media tries to make the Tea Party movement into a third party instead of a powerful bunch of upset conservatives that are telling the Republicans to sharpen up. They would like to see a third party because they know it will benefit their agenda. Remember.........we would not have had Clinton if the right had not been fractured by a third party, and Clinton was the medias golden boy.

How about tackling a third major threat - the one the Church Committee Report spoke of when they said: "Unless new and tighter controls are established by legislation, domestic intelligence activities threaten to undermine our democratic society and fundamentally alter its nature"? We have 100 fusion centers around the country with little oversight. We have firemen reporting enemies to fusion centers - making up stories about them with their "brothers." We have people so reported - average everyday Americans - being put under conspicuous surveillance. We have Stasi-like Citizen Stalkers (probably Neighborhood Watch Groups or Citizen Corp) being used by the FBI to harass and surveill citizens 24/7 for years. Because Bush's Attorney General rescinded anti-COINTELPRO regulations and Obama's Attorney General has not written new Guidelines for the FBI, we have all the horrors documented in the Church Committee Report and more recurring. Get someone from the ACLU or the Bill of Rights Defense Committee on to explain:

I received an appeal from the American Civil Liberties Union today to help them restore fundamental freedoms. In their appeal they go through each item that will make up their agenda in 2010. One in particular is very relevant to me because it highlights very well the outrageous problem that I detail on my web site: www.theintrovertspeaks.com. It has to do with “Exposing and Ending Investigations of Innocent Americans Without Cause.”

The ACLU describes this issue as follows:... See More

“Another critical privacy-protecting priority for the ACLU in 2010 is challenging government spying on peace groups and other innocent Americans who are simply exercising their constitutional rights. ACLU lawsuits have exposed evidence of spying on peace groups in places like Baltimore, Maryland and the state of Maine. We’re determined to bring that kind of chilling misuse of government power to an end.”

“We’re also working for change in FBI investigative guidelines that represent a serious threat to the privacy rights of innocent Americans. The original Attorney General Guidelines were adopted in the mid-1070’s to limit the FBI’s investigative authority after it was discovered that the agency was engaged in widespread abuses and violations of constitutional rights – including politically-motivated spying on figures like Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.”

“In 2008, then-Attorney General Michael Mukasey issued much broader guidelines that allow FBI agents to use paid informants, monitor a person’s activities or engage in other types of intrusive surveillance without probably cause or any evidence of wrongdoing. One particularly bizarre provision allows the FBI to violate the Attorney General Guidelines without approval from, or notice to, the Attorney General.”

“It is hard to overestimate the dangers to personal privacy inherent in creating an ambiguous set of guidelines for invasive surveillance of Americans and then granting the FBI the authority to violate those guidelines unilaterally.”

“With your help, the ACLU will be pressing Congress to create a statutory framework that limits the FBI’s authority to conduct investigations without reasonable suspicion of wrongdoing.”

For over three years I have been under conspicuous surveillance. Why? Because my government gave firemen the right to “report” people. This enabled someone with a personal vendetta to get together with friends and make up stories. Like a person in a Kafka novel I was never informed of the charges against me. My life in these last three years has completely changed as everywhere I go I am surveiled by police, firemen, and Stasi-like Citizen Stalkers. It is shocking this is happening in America. It is shocking that the Senate and House Committees that are suppose to exercise oversight functions have failed so miserably in discharging their responsibility. It is shocking that my fate depends on the ACLU being able to raise enough money to finally bring justice to my case and the countless Americans across the country suffering the same fate.

You need to get the Attorney General in to ask him why he has not changed the Attorney General Guidelines for the FBI which is causing the violation of basic human rights of American citizens. FBI uses same tactics on American citizens in COINTELPRO 2009/2010 used on terrorists - noise to cause sleep deprivation, dogs to intimidate, social ... See Moreisolation - gets neighbors involved in organized gang stalking. We need to hold chairpersons of Congressional of Committees who should be doing oversight responsible for what is going on. www.theintrovertspeaks.com

OUT OF TOUCH CONGRESS: Tell Congress when they go home on their breaks, to go out, talk to their constituents and ask them, if they want jobs, if they want health care. I challenge them to talk to the ever-shrinking middle class. EARN YOUR PAY! It's not about you it's about US!

AMERICA, wake up! Congress is no longer working for the American people, they are working for themselves!!!

Is the news succumbing to pressure from the White House (the Justice Department called Keith Oberman to complain about a story they showed) not to talk about U.S. Surveillance Policy?

Very disappointed in your session w/ Boehner. You should have challenged him on his use of "takeover" to describe the health care legislation. Where is the takeover? This is rhetoric on his part, w/ no beef behind it. The press has failed to challenge the GOP on this kind of thing.

John. More people are watching Fox News than the other network news shows. So does that the American people are stupid? Are they so ignorant they believe Fox over other networks? Granted, you have MILLIONS of people watching American Idol, but the fact of the matter is, Rush, Glenn, Sean and FNS are providing a great service...and Americans seem to like it.

Funny that this President with his civil liberties record would do that!

On February 3, 2010 the Bill of Rights Defense Committee (www.bordc.org) is going to Washington to ask Congress to Stop Domestic Spying. Will the media cover it?

At issue is the government’s invading “the privacy of law-abiding individuals without meaningful checks and balances.”... See More

While President Obama has promised us transparency, programs such as the Terrorist Surveillance Program are shrouded in secrecy. Even though in the Senate’s premier investigation of intelligence activities in the U.S. – The Church Committee Report – they warned, “It is wise restraints which keep men free. In the field of intelligence those restraints have too often been ignored.” (p.199) The Church Committee Report continued: “The three main departures in the intelligence field from the consitutional plan for controlling abuse of power have been:” a. Excessive Executive Power b. Excessive Secrecy c. Avoidance of the Rule of Law (p. 199).

The Bill of Rights Defense Committee says on its web site: “officials have confirmed that the Inspector General is currently preparing yet another analysis documenting widespread and systemic abuses by the FBI of it powers to spy on Americans. Not only have authorities invaded the privacy of millions of law-abiding Americans, but they have repeatedly violated even the few remaining laws designed to protect civil liberties.”

Why aren’t these issues ever discussed in the media? The American Civil Liberties Union in its report entitled – America Unrestored – available for download at www.aclu.org/america-unrestored - tells us the Obama Administration has failed to:

1. “Direct the attorney general and other relevant agency heads (e.g., Defense and Homeland Security) to end government monitoring of political activists.”

2.” Issue an executive order directing the relevant agencies to refrain from monitoring political activists unless there is reasonable suspicion that they have committed a criminal act or are taking preparatory actions to do so.”

3. “Direct the attorney general to repeal the new Attorney Guidelines regarding FBI investigations, and replace them with new guidelines that protect the rights and privacy of innocent persons. The new guidelines should:

a. Prohibit the use of intrusive investigative techniques absent specific and articulable facts that give a reasonable indication that the subject of the investigation is engaging in a violation of federal law.

b. Specifically prohibit the use of race, religion, national origin, or the exercise of First Amendment-protected activity as factors in making decisions to investigate persons or organizations.

c. Specifically prohibit the reporting of and keeping files on persons engaging in peaceful political activities.”

The American Civil Liberties Union Report tells us President Obama has failed to “Appoint all members to the Privacy and Civil Liberties Oversight Board…”

In the area of Freedom of Speech the Obama Administration has not:
issued “an executive order directing the Secret Service to end the use of so-called ‘free speech zones,’ and repeal procedures in the Presidential Advance Manual for deterring political protest.”

My interest in these issues stem from being put under conspicuous surveillance for over three years, being harassed when I enter and leave my home, having dogs used to intimidate me. My story is at my web site at: www.theintrovertspeaks.com. It is outrageous that this is happening in America. But if you go to: www.trackedinamerica.org - you will see it is not the first time this has happened. And if you read Intelligence Activities and the Rights of Americans 1976 US Senate Report on Illegal Wiretaps and Domestic Spying by the FBI, CIA and NSA by the Church Committee (US Senate Select Committee on Intelligence Activities Within the United States) - you will see when things like this happened before in the 60’s the Church Committee warned us: “Unless new and tighter controls are established by legislation, domestic intelligence activities threaten to undermine our democratic society and fundamentally alter its nature.” (p. 7)
