It's long overdue and to make this an effective move, the upper ranks within DEQ need to leave. Bring in new leadership who has an positve interest in Michigan's economic growth.

Whoa, really? Then why have so many potential business opportunities moved out of state because of all the red tape in the permitting process? IThe DEQ is not supposed to interpret the law and when they do, many don't fight them because they don't have the financial backing - so they leave. Maybe someone should do an audit of the Audit Agency? ... Read MoreEither that or someone is hiding vital documents which could hurt the MDEQ. Without an oversight committee, why should they? Part of the MDEQ is good and needed, but the minds that drive the MDEQ in Lansing need to go bye-bye.

Michigan Department of Environmental Quality An example of what can happen when we don't properly care for our environment. DEQ Director Steve Chester commented this morning that, "The damage caused by this incident is not only unfortunate, but completely unacceptable. While we cannot undo the damage that has already been done, the DEQ will continue to investigate the cause behind it and hold those responsible for it accountable."
