MTU Alumni; I just heard that Ontonagon is one of five finalists in a contest to win a $10,000 grant for playground amenities, sponsored by the NFL. We need your help to win! Beginning with the 2009-10 school year, our elementary school will consolidate with the jr.-sr.... high school, and will share one campus. There is no playground equipment at the high school. One of our school employees, Kirsten Menigos, heard about this contest, and organized a Play Day in September, wrote a letter and applied for the grant, and just found out that we are a finalist. There will be two winners out of the five, but the other four finalists are from large areas, and we really need lots of votes to win. Please go to www.kaboom.org/playday and vote for Play Ontonagon. You can vote once every 24 hours. Please help us help our little ones in this big transition. Thanks a lot.I have just learned that the other school(Brusly, LA) in the contest has contacted their local university to provide support. I figured that we can do the same, but with better results. Would appreciate your vote and ask that you forward this to your email list and post on your social networks.
Thanks for your support,

Homecoming Events Attract Young Alumni
The Michigan Tech Alumni Association hosted multiple alumni events this
past
homecoming weekend. For the eighty-seven alumni who registered for one
or more of the homecoming activities, over 60% graduated after 2004.
Friday kicked off with registration at the Downtowner where the fir...st 50
alumni received a free homecoming t-shirt and mug. From there they
headed to Hancock Beach for the cardboard boat races and a cookout. Over
800 hot dogs were served in one hour. The Alumni Association also
provided towels to the racers which included an alumni boat, the /SS
Been There Done That/. Alumni and friends capped off Friday’s activities
in the new South Husky Skybox watching the Huskies defeat rival Northern
5-3.
On Saturday, alumni got to experience the popular VIP tailgate from the
Library Restaurant and Brewery during the homecoming football game
against the Findlay Oilers. A special snow storm was provided so
everyone felt more at home. Saturday night alumni and students competed
for the Alumni Cup in the first annual Alumni Broomball Invitational at
the MacInnes Ice Arena. The sixteen team single elimination tournament
included 12 of last season’s best student teams and four alumni teams
battling for over 5 hours. In the final game, in front of many fans and
the pep band, the alumni team upset the students 2-0 to be the first
team engraved on the cup. Let the tradition begin, Alumni 1 - Students 0.
