Minneapolis Snow Emergency Hi Cody-- your question is a good one. The reason we do our Snow Emergency in three phases instead of two is that it lets us keep 2/3 of on-street parking available in each phase. If we did it in two phases, half the parking would be unavailable on each day. In most of Minneapolis' densest neighborhoods, removing half ...the parking would make it really, really tough to find a place to move your car. To reduce confusion, we do everything we can think of to help people find out what to do when there's a Snow Emergency. We mail out fliers, have a hotline, do automated phone calls, have a Web site, send e-mails and text messages, and update our Facebook and MySpace pages. Hopefully, using these tools, you'll have a tow-free winter!
