Moorpark, CA
Moorpark: Home to families, friends, and wonderful people. Rural and special, its close enough to the big city but not tainted by it. Come and stay awhile or just take a stroll down High Street.

I remember moving to Moorpark, driving down High Street in front of the Cactus Patch, there was one guy sweeping the sidewalk outside and that was it! Coming from LA, this was like a whole other world. We were like, Dad where are you moving us? It was one of the best things he ever did! I would never have had so muc...h fun, met such nice people, etc...I remember my friends from LA would always come to Moorpark and go to the parties etc... They still talk about it now 30 years later! Moorpark is definitely a special place.Read More

Cristina

Cristina I grew up on first street by the RR tracks(70's-80's)..I remember going to Rainies and Spencer's Market on Moorpark Ave and the public library on High Street a few doors down from the Cactus Patch..we walked to Holy Cross church on Sunday's over by Charles Street. I still live in Moorpark but it has really changed.

My parents owned the restaurant now called "Cactus Patch" back in the late 1950's when it was called the "C & H Cafe"

Debi

Debi aw Moorpark, my two uncles owned and ran the only two gas stations in town. No super markets or fancy resturants and when you walked down the street everyone knew each other or were related. as a matter of fact my name is in the Moorpark Story (book written by Ms. Gunter). High street hasn't realluy changed that much. Still have friends and family living there.

Pamela

Pamela My family moved to Mooprak from Filmore in 1969. I grew up there then most of my 20's moving around the area. Got married in 2000, moved to Simi, then to Bakersfield (with State Farm)....Wish I could get back there, but we could never get a house like we have here!!!! We love Moorpark!!!!!

Moorpark has really grow, you won't recognize it anymore. I think theres a Rite Aid (use to be Thrifty Drug Store now renamed Rite Aid) where your house use to be. It's not the small town Moorpark we grew up in.

Peach Hill had apricot trees when I was a kid....I miss the orange trees, lemon orchards, avacados, pomegranate trees, the olive trees & Eucalyptus tress on Bard Street, the pepper trees in old downtown...most of all the "Mayberry USA" feel to the place.

I lived in Moorpark for twelve years. We cashed out in 2004 and moved to Central Oregon...If I could I would move back in a heartbeat! Learned I am a city girl and although it is beautiful here, I miss the Mountain Meadow neighbors I left and the close proximity to the beach, L.A., big shopping malls and the wide var...iety of things to do with my kids. I really miss the cultural diversity as well as all of the concerts I could attend. My sons are in MS and HS now so I'm "stuck" here...for now!Read More
