Music Together LLC Hi, families! do you remember your parents singing to you when you were a young child? What songs? This Thanksgiving, ask your older relatives what they remember their own parents singing to them. Then, after dinner, why not try to pass along some of these songs to the next generation in your family? Happy Thanksgiving to all!

We sang a lot in the car, although we didn't travel for Thanksgiving. Mostly we sang folky songs we knew from Peter Paul and Mary and the Kingston Trio and the Brothers Four and the Smothers Brothers.

Here are some: Shady Grove, What Do You Do With a Drunken Sailor, 3 Jolly Coachmen, Flora the Lily of the West, the Hammer Song, Come All Ye ... See MoreFair and Tender Ladies, Blow Ye Winds in the Morning. We also sang my Mom's favorite Gilbert and Sullivan songs. The rule was, if we were singing the same song over and over and you were sick of it, you sang the resting tone on the syllable "bum" in a significant way, and everyone would agree to switch to another song.

My parents didn't sing to me, but as the youngest of 5, I sang with my siblings all the time. One strong memory is in the back of the station wagon singing AC/DC at the top of our voices on the way to an amusement park 2 or 3 hours away... Not exactly high brow, but still very invigorating!

Music Together LLC This Op-Ed from the New York Times supports the concept that babies and youg children learn differently from adults. The Music Together curriculum was created with this in mind.

Babies and young children are designed to explore, and they should be encouraged to do so. Children learn more through natural interaction with a parent and play than with any toy.
