yeah, it is great....but what happens to all the homes that aren't built "green"? Do we just plow them down and start over. Everyone wants newer, safer, greener! What are the related costs in making a white elephant more green in today's market as opposed to buying new green? It's woonderful and more eco gratifying to have the new houses but ... Read Morethere's 400 billion homesthat aren't....what do we do with those? nd since the greener homes are bound to be more costly, only the less needy or richer if you prefer, can afford to be more eco conscious

The development that I am working with has just made R-50 wall systems, tankless hot water heaters, dual flush toilets and CFL'S standard in all homes. We have built the first ZERO ENERGY HOME in our market area. This is not a trend. This is the future.

Being the 1st GREEN Designation Realtor in San Luis Obispo, marketing this fact in print, web and on my retail office location has not brought me 1 lead in 1 year effort. NAR's GREEN doesn't make the GREEN. Buyers are completely un-interested and place no value on the designation.
It's still the right thing to do even thought it does not make a realtor money.
