NC State Sustainability Office
The Campus Environmental Sustainability Team (CEST) is an Administrative Advisory Council that will guide campus wide sustainability.
CEST Goals for 2010:
1. Create the tactics to implement the 5-year sustainability strategic plan
2. Create a Climate Action Plan (CAP) for reducing NC State's Greenhouse gas emissions
Seven... CEST working groups: Academics & Research, Buildings, Energy & Water, Land Use, Materials & Purchasing, Transportation, Waste Reduction & Recycling.
Each working group will have a CAP kickoff meeting the week of Jan. 19th. The Waste Reduction & Recycling working group will be meeting in Administrative Building III on Jan. 21st 1:00- 3:00pm.
Admin III is located at the corner of Varsity & Wolf Village Way.
Presentations will be given by members of the University Sustainability Office and consultants from Affiliated Engineers (AEI). AEI worked with UNC, Duke and Cornell during their CAP development. The first discussions will include an overview of why this process is important, the timeline for having a completed document ready for the Board of Trustees and how citizens can make an impact in the process.
The CAP itself will lay out specific steps NC State can take to become more efficient, save money and, therefore, be a more sustainable place for future generations. Come meet the consultants from AEI and get involved in preserving NC State for future generations.
We encourage your participation in a working group relating to your area of interest or expertise. Your input now can have an impact for years to come.
We are not asking for a big time commitment but we are asking for your input.
The answers are out there.
