On par with child molestation, possession of child pornography is the professional death penalty for any educator. But NEA and Virginia Education Association member Ting-Yi Oei suffered that devastating accusation and—$167,000 later—lived to tell the tale.

What came first: The chicken or the egg? Those students who enjoy writing anyway were more likely to keep a blog or a profile on a social networking page-- Or did they find writing to be fun because they started a blog or a social network page that turned them on to writing?

Yes, it will pit teacher against teacher, totally take the focus off of what principals are supposed to be doing, and reward those who think they know what it is like to be an educator by making the profession similar to those who produce an inanimate object.
I too am seriously concerned with the cap coming off of charters. The facts say that ... See Moremost charter schools are doing no better than traditional public schools and there continues to be very little oversight.

Agreed, Sheila, Deb and Lynn. Like I said, NEA is helping it along, as we speak. We need to email our state presidents because they are already helping bring this disaster here. I have friends who teach where 1/2 the kids don't speak English and others who teach where every child has food every day. We don't control their lives. Some stay up all ... See Morenight, but they still give us all the blame if they don't learn, unfed, no sleep... doesn't matter. Unfair and teacher vs. teacher. What would happen to cooperation???
