Not to mention that it's not 'community' giving. There is no way small, community non-profits will ever be able to compete on FB with large charities if the decision is based solely on FB votes. The little guys don't have a chance with this. It's so frustrating, it makes me want to scream every time I see a Chase ad here.

Both Facebook and Myspace are becoming less about community and more about advertising and revenue. That's why Facebook is toying with the idea of charging for membership. If it does I'll quit using it. I already do not post any samples of my work here because of their little clause that allows them to use any material posted here regardless of ... See Morecopyright, saying that posting it here is tacit agreement to allow them to use it without renumeration. I refuse to vote or even click on any links to Chase financial because it is a corporation that I do not like and do not do business with. When they bought out one of the banks I did business with I closed out that account.

I don't understand why an artist should have to pay to show someone there work. Ultimately the curators/gallerists benefit when they discover new artists. Ideally, artist and gallery should be equal business partners as each has out of pocket costs they hope to recoupe presenting work to the public.

Also, weekday evenings are not great for parents. Yes, many artists are also parents! How about scheduling more things not on school nights?
