National Symphony Orchestra NSO Principal Cellist David Hardy follows up Lambert Orkis's blog post with his own notes from their Beethoven recording session.

Source: kcblogger.kennedy-center.org
Over the past few years, Lambert Orkis and I derived great enjoyment from revisiting and performing the works for piano and cello by Beethoven with the idea of recording these five sonatas and three sets of variations not once, but twice(!) - on modern and period setups.
National Symphony Orchestra

National Symphony Orchestra Grammy award-winning pianist Lambert Orkis recently teamed up with NSO Principal Cellist David Hardy to record Beethoven Past and Present. On the NSO blog Orkis details the ins and outs of making a classical music recording. You can purchase this Beethoven album at: http://ow.ly/BIuZ

Having "worn both hats"—that of an audio recording producer and that as a featured performer – I can state with authority that the actual playing in a recording session is only one part of a long process that culminates in a published CD.

Thanks for posting - I grabbed the last two tickets priced at $45 as soon as I saw. Do you know how I can get tickets on the balcony above the stage?

Kiat, if you mean the seating on the sides of the stage, those are Stage Boxes. Unfortunately that section is sold out. If you are referring to the seats at the very back of the hall below the organ, those are Chorister Seats and are only made available for select concerts. Glad you got your tickets, though. Enjoy the concert tonight!

Several movie studios wooed Prokofiev, including Walt Disney, who wanted him for Fantasia. He visited Hollywood and learned a lot about the techniques of filmmakers and composers. He applied what he learned there when he scored back in Russia the Eisenstein film, Alexander Nevsky.
