Hello to all!

My name is peg(O) Gooday, Chiricahua (Fort Sill) Apache. I am presently writing a children's book for my future g-kids and such on the Gaan. I am quite familiar with the WhiteMountain version with the little boy and his dog, then I hear that our small tribe's version is about a blind boy and a crippled boy. Since we were imprisoned until the 1920s, a lot of our stories and knowledge was dispersed hither and yon. I would like to hear other Apache tribes' versions, especially the Mescalero. If anyone can help me with this I would greatly appreciate it. I can be contacted here on FB or my email is p_gooday@sbcglobal.net

Thanks so much, with respect ... See More

Indigenous Mapping: Tools for Native Politics in Panama and the World
4 – 5 p.m., Room 4018, Fourth Level

Join anthropologist and indigenous rights advocate Mac Chapin for an illustrated talk discussing a mapping project carried out with the Kuna of Panama. The maps that resulted from this innovative proje...ct are being used by the Kuna to protect their territory, strengthen their culture and political organization, and for education in their schools. Similar methodology for mapping indigenous lands has been used in Central and South America, Africa, and New Guinea.

This program has been organized by the Smithsonian Latino Center and the National Museum of the American Indian. Co-sponsored by the Smithsonian Latino Center.
