National Restaurant Association Tips from Washington restaurateurs on how they would like their guests to behave. Anything you would like to add?

bit.ly
There are countless ways customers can endear themselves to restaurants. Inviting a clown to a four-star establishment is not one of them.

National Restaurant Association Did you know that 53% of Americans use restaurant takeout as all or part of their Thanksgiving meals? Will you pick up your bird, sides or dessert at a restaurant this year?

bit.ly
According to National Restaurant Association research, one in 10 Americans (11 percent) celebrate Thanksgiving Day by dining in one of the nation's 945,000 restaurants.

National Restaurant Association Social media is changing the rules for customer service, and companies are noticing, according to USA Today. Does anyone have thoughts on how to leverage Twitter, Facebook, etc. to enhance customer service - or what to avoid doing?

www.usatoday.com
Hailed as the Next Big Thing, customer service through Twitter, as well as other social-networking sites, is a work in progress.

While social media is in the current hype, usage numbers are still low (but growing) and any restaurant must consider this before jumping on the bandwagon. Currently only about 10% of US restaurants utilize SM, so the potential is there to capture market share for those whose in house operations are up to par. There may be 300M FB users but only 100M are in the US and the restaurateur must consider LOCAL usage for each SM outlet before building strategies for them.

I would say that 100M FB users is worth a try. Local usage is not much of an issue. Build your FB network with locals in mind. If you offer what the people want at a value they like the customer will find you.

Chris Sweis If a restaurant or bar could get a free Iphone Application with their Menu, Location, Prices, Ordering, Pictures, Specials, and Coupons on there would that be of great value? Just curious and would like to get some feedback...Thanks...

yeah an app with their specials and coupons would be a great idea-- you could target your marketing to opt-in users and cut costs by eliminating printing and mailing costs
