Pete Koski My experience was very similar to Gretcher's.

Their strategies for "discipleship" were manipulation through guilt, feigned friendship, group think, biblical judo, and extrabiblical management techniques.

The Navigators need to rethink who they are.

I'm truly sorry for your experience. Both my husband and I had the exact opposite experience. We're grateful for the loving, faithful, mature "Navs" who helped disciple us in Christ.

Gretcher Synballo

Gretcher Synballo I am sorry I ever became involved with that dangerous and
very un-Christlike group of people in that town. I had phone calls from
my 'mentor' Jim and several of his cronies at all hours of the night.
They would not leave me alone at work. They demanded I quit school
and move in to a Navigator dormitory to become a full-...time Navigator, give
portions of my paychecks to forward recruitment, my only job being to
recruit more Navigators. It was everyone's only job. The police
were the only thing that stopped the downward spiral of virtual human slavery I
endured for six months. I sincerely hope the rest of you are not this
way. I have heard you were a good organization, but if your methods
mirror those of the Navigators in Clarksville/Fort Campbell area, then I
wouldn't want to stand in your shoes before God.

The Navigators
Thank you for expressing your concern. The Navigators is a movement to help people know Christ and make Him known. We believe the Lord Jesus Christ died for our sins, and that all who believe in Him are justified on the ground of His shed blood. Among The Navigators’ core values are:

The dignity and value of every person
Love and grace expressed among us in community
... See More
Our desire is that our ministry be characterized by climates of grace and compassion for all people, including the vulnerable and broken.

The possibility that any of our staff or volunteers would act against these beliefs and values is troubling. We take these allegations seriously. If you have specific information, please contact us directly at info@navigators.org. Please include your name and contact information so that we can contact you for clarification as necessary.

Gretcher Synballo

Gretcher Synballo I don't know what the Navigators are like worldwide, so I won't speak concerning them. But in Clarksville, TN, they are an aggressive and oppressive religious regime which preys on the weak and easily manipulated, particularly at Fort Campbell and Austin Peay State University, to include breaking into disciples' homes... at odd hours of the night to enforce scripture memorization practices, stalking, harassment at work, threats of physical violence if total submissive compliance is refused, cult-like manipulation of its own 'disciples' by using guilt and aggressive confrontation as its strongest tool, and a deeply sadistic view of the worth of the human animal.

I'm sorry you had such a bad experience with them! Mine has been quite the opposite! I became a Christian through a Navigator work in Millington, TN and learned how to walk with the Lord with another Nav group in Jax, Fl & Patuxent River, MD. We're eternally grateful for their input into my life.

The Navigators New medicine for an old problem. Discipling for Development, in Uganda, has seen many come to Christ because they see God's power at work in their midst. http://bit.ly/bsFo5v

We don't have staff in Gulu specifically. Here is the website for Navigators of Africa. http://bit.ly/cuEBGM
They would be able to help with information about countries/cities in which national Navigator staff are located.

Joyce Davidson Blum

Joyce Davidson Blum I am a true second generation Navigator. My parents, Cec and Thelma Davidson, long time Nav staff raised my brother and sisters and me in the solid foundation laid by Dawson Trotman - prayer, Bible study, fellowship and witnessing. That foundation has helped me in my current job as a principal of Cascade Christian Pu...yallup Elementary School in Puyallup, Washington. I love the Navs and what they have done and are currently doing. For those of you who know my parents, they are both doing well - Dad is 93 and Mom is 88 - currently living in Vancouver, Washington.

The Navigators The Navigators join Jesus-followers around the world in praying for the victims of the devastating earthquake in Chile on February 27. The two North American Navigator staff couples serving in Santiago are safe and responding to the needs of Chilean friends. We will offer more details as they become available.
