Netroots Nation
As the national debate about comprehensive immigration reform begins to heat up, activists across the country must begin strategizing now about how to organize around this key issue. Join Netroots Nation for a discussion on the role online and offline activists can play, particularly on a local level, in the upcoming b...attle to pass CIR. How can we ensure that our techniques are effective and how can we personalize this federal fight on a local level and engage activists in our own communities?

Strategist Jenifer Fernandez Ancona will moderate this discussion about how online and offline activists can work together locally in the coming months to ensure that when the battle heats up nationally, we're ready to fight. Panelists include Paul Hogarth of Beyond Chron, activist Bobbi Lopez, Christopher Punongbayan of the Asian Law Caucus and Favianna Rodriguez of Presente.org.

Cohosted by the Good Ol' Girls and Presente.org

Free. RSVP is requested to help us manage crowd size. Click here to reserve your spot (http://bit.ly/3VyfGy).

Netroots Nation In case you missed it Meteor Blades had a great essay about jobs posted at Daily Kos this weekend. The White House is convening a jobs summit this December, this essay discusses some of the long term things we should be talking about.

Come December, months after it should have happened, the White House will convene a jobs summit. That’s a good thing if we’re really going to talk about all options. Because important ones are missing right now. ...

Netroots Nation Lou Dobbs' "amicable" parting from CNN cost them $8 Million in severance. The pressure activists have brought to bear on him these last months has been intense.

I wouldn't have paid him $8 million to go away. I'd have canceled his show and paid him the money so I could prevent him from being on TV at all. Force him to surrender the $$ if he wanted to be released to work elsewhere.

Netroots Nation Maribel Hastings has been working on a great series called "Immigration Reform: Know the Players". There are 3 parts out now, all worth a read: http://bit.ly/QkIel (Part 1), http://bit.ly/GNc7O (Part 2), and http://bit.ly/D6sCG (Part 3). The last article talks about a series of tea parties planned this Saturday 11/18. They'll be small and astroturfy but expect the media to cover them breathlessly.
