-Lon Dean How do you suggest news stories? For example: did you know that Ted & Gayle Haggard are coming to the Capital District to speak? He was an advisor to the president, the head of 30 million Evangelical Christians, one of the most powerful Christian leaders in the world before his scandal.

WNYT NewsChannel 13 Who do you think should run for governor in 2010?

The former mayor had been viewed as a potentially strong challenger to Gov. David A. Paterson in 2010.

I can't vote in NY (primary residence in NJ) but I don't really understand why Patterson is so unpopular. As I recall Spitzer was always fighting with the Legislature and I don't remember him accomplishing much before he got in trouble. At least Patterson is trying to get things done.

WNYT NewsChannel 13 Do you think tougher laws deter people from getting behind the wheel while intoxicated?

Source: wnyt.com
ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - New York's newest felony will send drunk drivers to prison when they are caught with children in the car. The measure is named for an 11-year-old killed this year on the way to a sleepover.

No, there is no way to legislate morals and values. If that was possible we could close the prisons. People simply lack morals and values, now the question is what standard does one use for there moral and value code????

Dana regarding Europe, most of the towns and cities are much more pedestrian-friendly and bike-friendly than here in the US, so people can indulge and not drive home the way we do here in the US. When I lived in Holland I saw quite a few biking-while-drinking accidents in progress. They used to dredge the canals in my town and pull out tons of old... Read More, rusty bikes!

Regarding legislation here, I don't think tougher laws are a deterrent. People who have drinking problems don't stop drinking and driving because of possible consequences. They can't, because drinking is an addiction. I don't know how to get these people off the roads before they injure themselves or someone else, but it seems like the answer lies in identifying and treating the problem BEFORE the person gets on the road. Alcoholism is a disease and it needs treatment, just like diabetes, heart disease, etc. Legislation and "moral codes," as valuable as those things are, can't diagnose or treat illness.

Forget cookies and milk. Santa wants the swine flu vaccine. Many of the nation's Santas want to be given priority for the vaccine because they'll be around so many kids — and most are overweight, which puts them at additional risk.

What is wrong with our society that so many people are lacking compassion, are angry & hateful to the point their only focus in life is to be violent to innocent animals & children that just want to be loved & to please you. It is very disturbing!!

I've heard that other dogs in that area have been randomly abused, but Daisy was the worst. That's how serial killers get started, working their way up from small animals to pets to people. I hope they find this psycho before he does something even worse. There's another beagle in the same area missing too. Let's hope they find him healthy and safe!
