Ronnie Peterson Hi, I just wanted John Inskeep to say about Paul Brown NPR News anchor from washington to say a word about Cerl Cassel. When Karl left Morning Edition, he bid a final goodbye to the newsdesk. John and Renee got to sit down and tell Paul Brown because there was a big change at NPR's Morning Edition saying that Paul took... over for Karl Cassel while working on Wait, Wait Don't Tell Me each week. Why are we sad about Karl in the morning now that Paul Brown replaced Karl Cassel?

In the proposed Health Care Reform bills, subsidies and exchanges etc do not start until 8013 / 8014. Apparently all the tears being shed by President and the Democratic Hill dwellers about the 45000 Americans dying every year are at best crocodile tears. I would imagine that for this tragedy which is equal to 15 911's... in human toll, President would have declared a national Emergency to stop these deaths immediately.
How can these compassionate Democrats, accusing Republicans of being heartless, watch 200,000 more die waiting for 2013/2014? If this is a budget trick, it is a cynical political calculation to show President's fiscal awareness. Most surprising is that us progressive activists and bloggers have also overlooked this heart wrenching situation.
Should we not be talking about this as issue #1 ahead of all others?
Iris Finally the coughing stopped and I slept this morning for the first time since coming down with the flu. Slept until I heard the voice of an unnamed woman calling me and every other woman with two ears to arms: apparently there is a broo-ha-ha brewing over whether a national health insurance plan would cover abortion.... WHY IS THIS EVEN A QUESTION? ABORTION IS LEGAL IN THE U.S. Legal means it is a procedure that should be available in the U.S. and therefore covered by our health insurance. IRIS BRADY

Stacey I will relish all the podcasts of "News & Notes" that much more... I'll be waiting to hear your voice over the airwaves again --your broadcast was like the a favorite sweater, comforting after a long day.
Sherita I am missing the show as it was a close friend keeping me informed and in tune with my culture and those active within. I still automatically turn NPR on at night thinking News and Notes will be there for my drive home. I hope that there will be some new outlet to bring the voices of Farai and Tony back to public radio very soon!
