I love the article, really sensible tips for long term change. This time last year we started getting a fortnightly organic fruit/veg box as a NY resolution to eat more fruit n veg. It's about the only resolution I've ever kept just because it was there and I couldn't duck out.

The end of the year is a time to review and take stock. The news media recounts the major events of the last 12 months, and makes lists of the public figures who have died. And we, as individuals, think about our own lives. What happened to us over the last year? What went right? What went wrong?...

Normal Eating I found an awesome non-alcoholic eggnog recipe. I use the microwave technique described in one of the comments so it takes just a couple minutes:

Normal Eating From Domino sugar box: "Sugar is a 100% natural simple carbohydrate. Carbohydrates are an important part of any balanced diet. Sugar contains no fat or cholesterol and has 15 calories per teaspoon." Get it?? Obvious implication: Sugar is good for you and an important part of a balanced diet. BARF!!! They can't come rig...ht out and say it since it's obviously untrue, but they strongly imply it.

I understand your point but there are volumes of ppl who die of those same diseases who have a "healthy" sugar consumption...many things lead to those diseases; saying SUgar is the main culprit is short-sighted and frankyl, wrong. Kudos to you for finding some resources, but in the long and short of it, there are just as many resources that go ... See Moreagainst your claims. It's all about finding someone's research whom agrees with you and it's possible to find anyone to make the claims one is looking for.

I understand why you say this, but I don't agree! I think there really are some objective facts here. I wrote a blog post about this, too:

Normal Eating The human brain is so large it consumes 25% of our calorie requirements (from Nova). Does this mean thinking is good exercise? :)

Yes, I was mindful of that when I wrote the note. First I wrote "calorie intake", then realized that was wrong and changed it to "calorie requirements". Doesn't change the main point, however. Mental exercise is exercise! :)
