With the healthcare debate on most Americans’ minds, Notre Dame College will host a timely discussion about women in healthcare for its fifth annual Women’s Leadership Forum. Four female leaders in the local healthcare industry will discuss their paths to success in the College’s Performing Arts Center on Wednesday, No...v. 11, at 7:00 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.
Euclid Hospital President Joanne Zeroske and Belva Denmark Tibbs, vice president of medical operations at Kaiser Permanente, will join NDC alumna Mary L. Ogrinc ’75, senior vice president of patient care services and chief nursing officer at Lake Health, on the panel. Dr. Diane Jedlicka, chair of Notre Dame’s nursing division, will moderate the event.
“The healthcare leadership forum provides an opportunity to explore the challenges faced by women in leadership roles within healthcare organizations. Eighty-five percent of the healthcare workforce is made up of women, yet less than one third of women in healthcare hold management positions,” Dr. Jedlicka said. “This discussion provides a unique ‘insider’ view of management issues faced by women in healthcare. It is especially timely in lieu of the recent legislative debate about healthcare reform.”
Joanne Zeroske was appointed president of Euclid Hospital in April 2009. Beginning her career as a cardiology staff nurse, Ms. Zeroske has worked at the Cleveland Clinic for 27 years. Previously, she served as the Clinic’s executive director of human resources operations and vice president of human resources for the nine regional hospitals, providing leadership for 10,000 employees.
Belva Denmark Tibbs has worked for Kaiser Permanente for the past 21 years in both the Ohio and Mid-Atlantic regions. As vice president of medical operations in the Ohio region, she is responsible for 1,000 employees, 11 facilities and a $160 million budget.
As the senior vice president of patient care services and chief nursing officer of Lake Health, Mary L. Ogrinc has been instrumental in transitioning both patients and staff from Lake East Hospital in Painesville to the new, state-of-the-art TriPoint Medical Center in Concord Township.
Dr. Diane Jedlicka currently serves as chair of the nursing division at Notre Dame College, where she helped establish the Bachelor of Science in Nursing program. Dr. Jedlicka is also a member of the USA board of directors for the Christian Medical College and Hospital in Vellore, India.
