If this were a discussion about gangs in Oklahoma, a mention of MS13, and even fear of MS13, would be totally appropriate. In the context of this discussion, any insinuation used to tie all or most Mexicans in Oklahoma to gang activity or illegal immigration is simple-minded stereotyping driven by racism.

I'm not defending illegal immigration. I don't know if the hispanic people I see in OKC are here legally or not. But, unlike some people posting here, I take the AMERICAN approach and assume people are innocent until I've got proof that they're guilty. The people who assume that they're guilty, don't know any more than I do about some stranger's immigration status. But, making that assumption based on the color of someone's skin, or the fact that they speak another language, is CLEARLY AND OBVIOUSLY RACIST!

It's not like I'm defending gang activity or illegal immigration. I don't know why anyone would want to defend the obvious racism behind some of these statements.... See More

I'm trying to have a mature discussion here. Russell, if you'd like to point out how I've been immature, I'd love to try and understand. Calling someone "instigating slime" is not at all mature. Digging through my friends list looking for minorities? That's pretty immature. And, you didn't even do a very thorough job. You must not have noticed my hispanic wife and in-laws.

I understand that racism is a touchy issue. And, nobody likes to be called racist. But, c'mon... Slinging around quips about illegal immigration or hispanic gangs at the mere mention of the Mexican flag having flown over Oklahoma, is CLEARLY AND OBVIOUSLY BIGOTED AND IGNORANT RACISM.

That's enough for me. I'm not gonna cure anyone who's set in their bigotry. I just don't like letting racist comments go unchallenged. It makes THE WHOLE STATE look backwards and ignorant. I don't wanna argue with racists. I just want other thoughtful people who may be reading to know that they're not alone in OK.

Robert - True, however it is interesting to know some of the history of the area that would later become Oklahoma.

And mistletoe is the state floral symbol.

Oklahoma @bonnie bender - As of 2007 53% of Oklahoma households had Internet access at home, 63.69% had Internet access either in the home or at work, school, etc.

The total number of households was reported at ~1,436,000.
So 63% would mean 904,680 households had Internet access in 2007.

I don't see how you would think only 100k ...people have computers when 9 times as many households report Internet access.
