“Every year, our company has a Christmas party and traditionally everyone exchanges gifts. Usually the costs of the gifts do not exceed $20-30. This year I have requested that gifts to me take the form of a contribution to One Spirit at www.nativeprogress.org. I have also made this r...equest to my family and friends. I want no material gift as there really is nothing I need.”

It is a grass roots program designed to follow the Lakota tradition of sharing. ONE Spirit The plight of Lakota People living on reservations in South Dakota. -Life Expectancy is 48 years for men & 52 years for women. -Unemployment-estimated to be 87% -90% live below Federal poverty level. -Teen suicide rate is 3 1/2 times higher than national average. -Infant mortality five times higher than national averag...e -Diabetes, heart disease, cancer & malnutrition are epidemic.

* Repairs and winterizes homes to conserve heat and make the homes more livable.
* Provides employment to Native American men and wom...en who must support families even though unemployment is at 90%.
* Allows the Lakota people to take care of themselves and their people.
