Anya Ulinich was seventeen when her family left Moscow and emigrated to the United States. Anya attended the Art Institute of Chicago and received an MFA in painting from the University of California at Davis. In 2000, she moved to Brooklyn, abandoned painting and began to write. The National Book Foundation awarded Anya with their “5 Under 35” honor—a recognition that her fiction writing is among the best of her generation. Petropolis is her first novel.
Dead Sextons—“the ’50s band in the 1980s zombie movie”—fuse surf rock and rockabilly with post-punk, creating what they themselves call post-apocalyptic surf rock. They are: Ian Decay (frontman), Darren Halm (bass), Joe Sullivan (sax) and Robert Takai (drums).Read More
