Our Towne Saratoga Boo! Serious Ghost Stories at the Saratoga Springs Public Library! David J. Pitkin, author of several books on ghosts in our area, will give a talk at the library about the ones closest to home.
David Pitkin comes by his ghosts honestly. As a teacher of American History his basic assumptions and beliefs about life w...ere shattered in the 1960's by the succession of assassinations of national political figures. Coincidences led him to the work of Dr. Hans Holzer, a firm believer in ghosts, thus expanding and opening his mind to new thinking. A new teaching job in 1971 led David Pitkin to saratoga Springs where with some new friends he formed a parapsychology study organization. He learned of local haunted sites and scripted a ghost tour for Saratoga Curcuit Travel and Tours where he worked as a tour guide in the summer. The notes of his 'ghost work' became the basis for his first book, Saratoga County Ghosts. In the process of compiling the first book he realized how very common ghosts were. But over the years 'sharing some neat tales' with readers has expanded into lending reassurance to his audience that life goes on after one's body died.
In addition to sharing tales of "Ghosts Near Saratoga," David Pitkin will sell copies of his books. Please join us at the library for this free program.
