My husband is a stay at home dad by choice for us not by default. He is an incredible father to our 4 kids..he may not always do things the way I do them but he does them just fine and the kids always come first. I think more of us moms should take a couple steps back and give the dads a little more room to sprout their parenting roots. It makes for a well balance family and a happier home.

This is my second year as PTA President at my daughters school and my focus is getting more dads involved. We need the moms to just ask dad to come to the meetings and share their knowledge.

Perhaps we as adults need to stop turning out backs on the "bad kids" and take time to get to know them, mentor them, learn about why they are the way they are! We need to view these kids as kids who are seeking attention - let's give it to them instead of dismissing them. It's when we turn our backs on them that they act out in violence! If their parents arent around then other caring adults need to STEP UP and help.

October 19-24 is National Safe Schools Week Did you know some view bullying as a "kids being kids" sort of thing or an accepted rite of passage. This however is far from the truth. Victims of bullies can suffer lifelong psychological and/or physical distress that can cause thoughts of suicide...

as a teacher, i will tell you, we take bullying very seriously and do as much as we can to prevent measures to protect the child being bullied and to teach the child doing the bullying that their behavior is NOT acceptable.
