Up “In order to do a successful animated film, you have to do three things: You have to tell a really compelling story that keeps people on the edge of their seat. You have to populate that story with memorable, appealing characters. And you have to put the story and those characters into a believable world--not a realistic world, but a believable world.” -John Lasseter, Chief Creative Officer

Up “We like to call this a ‘coming of old age’ story. The true adventure of life is often found in the mundane and the relationships between us all. It’s not ‘out there’--it’s right here and now.” - Bob Peterson, Co-Director (quote from The Art of Up) http://bit.ly/ArtofUp

This film was fun to watch (I enjoyed it more without the 3D effects) but it speaks to the bitter sweet result of a union of two souls and the resulting separation and loss. Mr. Fredrikson has to go through his dark tunnel and does so in a very human way. A great movie. I will buy it when I can.
