Di Heuser My friend Paul has written a very interesting article on why blogging is still a vital component of social media and he used my blog as an example. Would love to know what your thoughts are.

QualityLife Company Picked up the audio version of Patricia Aburdene's Megatrends The Rise of Conscious Capitalism and Hazel Henderson's Ethical Markets at Book World. The conversation around spirituality at work has been moving to a different, kinder form of capitalism for some time. Great 'cos it gives the conversation more rigour

QualityLife Company Selecting international conferences, dialogues and think-tanks to attend next year in the leadership and social enterprise space is challenging with so many exciting options available. Tallberg in June always tempting. But please let me know of any special gatherings in your part of the world which you can recommend

Prof Jonathan Jansen was not only engaging and entertaining, I think he managed to touch all of us and leave us with things we need to think about:- - how it is that we can change things and not leave it to others - particularly those we think are in power - to me he demonstrated that we all have...

QualityLife Company Starting to plan the 5th Annual "We are the Leaders We've Been Waiting for Conference" for March next year. Please send suggestions of awesome women you think I should approach!

Today someone sent me a copy of Anita Roddick’s book Body and Soul. It reminded me of how much she inspired me and the influence she had on how I think about the role of business. So I'm sharing the tribute to her which I wrote when I heard about her untimely death two years ago. ...

We're delighted to be hosting Professor Jansen later this month at one of our breakfast forums(http://www.qualitylife.co.za/mwork_19_11_09.htm for details) and love this article about him which first appeared 22 October 2009 in Business Day...

QualityLife Company I'm hosting an inter-generational conversation between women community volunteers on Sunday. The younger women think that the older women are stuffy & resistant to change & the older ones think that the younger ones are self-involved. Any suggestions to get them all talking to each other as people rather than perpetuating stereotypes?

“Transformation can only take place when you recognize the person sitting opposite you is you” Professor Jonathan Jansen
The presentation, drawn from Professor Jansen's book Knowledge in the Blood, will focus on the role of brokenness in leadership in a divided society. Jonathan Jansen, recently appointed as the first b...lack vice-chancellor at the University of the Free State, has been described as "one of the most energetic and productive academic scholars in the country, not only publishing numerous academic papers, articles and books, but also ...frequently entering the public space with opinion pieces and commentary on educational and other social and political issues."
Jansen, who is well-known for his independent and contrary opinions on education and society at large, is committed to both "continuity and change" at UFS.
In his book, Knowledge in the Blood: Confronting race and the apartheid past (Stanford University Press), he considers how is it that young Afrikaners, born at the time of Mandela’s release from prison, hold firm views about a past they never lived, rigid ideas about black people and fatalistic thoughts about the future. As the first black Dean of Education at the historically white University of Pretoria, Jansen was haunted by this question during his tenure at Tukkies.
But his book is no diatribe: it recounts a personal journey in which he learned as much from his young students as he taught them, and from which he emerged a changed man, with new insights that are valuable far beyond the confines of academia.
