    International Quilt Festival

International Quilt Festival We hope that you'll take a moment to read the latest entry in Festival Director Karey Bresenhan's online journal, "A Piece of My Mind," in which she reminisces about quilting icon—and cherished friend—Bonnie Leman.

Bonnie Leman was my cherished friend and mentor in the quilt world. In my opinion and that of many others, she was the “mother” of the 20th century’s quilting renaissance. Without Bonnie and Quilters Newsletter Magazine, the revival that has led to such a rebirth and such remarkable growth in q...

          • Bridgette Stein woohooo kewl! I've never been to the Market, I sure hope I get to go this year. I went to the show a couple years ago and lemme tell ya, it was overwhelming!!! Had 200lbs of fat quarters in tow and those lil ladies in the robochairs do NOT care if they roll over a few toes to get to their fabric! My sister in law went with me and it was such a great treat. I'm so glad it's close to home.

All of us here at Quilt Festival would like to express our heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Bonnie Leman, founder and longtime editor of Quilter's Newsletter Magazine. Bonnie was at the forefront of the late 20th century quilt revival and remained an icon in the quilting world...

            • Jenni Strachan Kathryn, It took 4 weeks to receive a catalogue in Australia. But as soon as the classes came on line I worked out my schedule/classes, faxed it through and got my confimation within 2 weeks. All this before the catalogue arrived. I had a few problems, emailed them, and the girls behind the scene were terrific and I can't praise them enough. They have such a huge job. Well done IQFetival.

            • International Quilt Festival Thanks, Jenni! At this point, it's actually taking less than two weeks to process enrollments. So glad to hear that you were able to resolve any problems and get your confirmation. We'll see you in Houston!

Kathryn Chenoweth Four weeks to confirm a schedule ? This is frustrating. The Quilt Show has gotten sooooo big. Please upgrade your technology so we can know what is available and what is not. We have lives. This interrupts our ability to plan work, shows, money and schedules with our family. Emotional intelligence is important.

Currently, enrollments are processed in 2 weeks. The 4 weeks indicated in our brochure for processing is the outside limit, and would be most unusual. We aim at getting our enrollment brochures in the mail 4 months prior to the show, and it... is rare that a holiday or printing delay alters that. We try to give enrollees ample time to make their plans in advance for attending Festival.

First and foremost, however, there is one thing about our processing procedures that should reassure enrollees. That is, we process all enrollments received for both shows in the order they are received, to be as fair as possible to our students. That means we process enrollments one at a time. We do this because the demand for classes means it is very competitive to get into many of them. Having several people entering enrollments at once would speed things up, but it would be completely random as to how classes were filled. Someone sending in a request on Monday could take priority over someone submitting it, for example, the previous Friday.

Each enrollee can look online at the class availability list to see what is already full before submitting her enrollment as well. We hope that this helps to answer your questions. Thanks!
