I can't wait until new R.e.m material comes out. Usually it takes about three years for new materal from a band to come out. I liked the last album accelerate but it left me with a strong desire for more music. I really like on the fly from the new live album and starting down the barrel of the middle distance as much or more than some of the songs from accelerate.

There were horns all over Beachball, the last track on Reveal. Really hope the new album will be as good as (or better than) Accelerate.

Hm. It hadn't occurred to me that the growing ranks of the highly educated, unemployed may want to work on creating a better way, since, apparently, government has no will to do so. I'd imagine they are quite bored and would enjoy taking down that which swallowed their livelihoods.

What was I thinking?!? Why build machines to make cds when all we need is bytes, or whatever it is called that transmits the sound.. This way, the album could be, could get out there the day they're done recording!! It is such, less of a dino idea, because even if they edit or revise a song or the entire work, a week later, it could be re-released ... Read Morethat day! Oh, this is too exciting. But, in order to facilitate such eficency they'd have to release it directly, cos the dino, bureaurcratic monsters, would take for ever trying to calculate all the ways they could more efficiently profit.

Hm. Brett, you may be on to something. I think it is interesting that REM's adding a horn section, apparently, just by their videos, because the horns have added such a great sound to Portishead.

I didn't mean that after Monster all the music that followed wasn't good. I meant that their popularity went down a lot. I could care less if they are not ad popular. I've bought all their material and as soon as it comes out I'll buy the new cd. I still remember when I was in Mexico, visiting my grandparents in their farm. Some truck playing "... Read MoreLosing My Religion" was advertising for some sort of meeting for students. To me it was surreal because where I'm from no body even speaks English. That tells me a lot, of all the possible artist or music to be played it was an Rem song. As long as they come out with cool creative music I'll listen. I just wonder how much longer they can go at it. I doubt they will ever try to sell out to gain popularity after all they are at a point where they don't need validation. I can't wait for more new music from Rem.
