The problem with this idea is, their actual pay is a pittance compared to the payoffs in later investments and appointments to corporate boards they benefited during their term in office. It's a nice thought, but impossible to implement.

Why more people don't understand this is beyond me. But then again, car dealers have successfully advertised prices of 'one dollar over invoice' for several years, and people don't seem to have a clue about that, either.

I liked the vid, they both did very well; pacing, questions and answers were all good. In other news, Prof Burns is pretty, but I hadn't seen Mangu-Ward before, and she has the hot nerd girl thing going. ;-)

Rich and Nathan, that is what is so cool about my friend John's books. They are monogamous, dedicated hetro (like me and my beloved) and they have no desire to do traditional marriage. They do it all Libertarian. Just agreements and lawyers, no government. I wasn't buying into it until I read it and chatted with him too. I am ALMOST in the take government out of marriage camp.

Suki, that's great. My primary concern is that such contracts aren't generally treated as equal to marriage, requiring additional effort to enjoy benefits and/or recognition currently reserved for married couples. This is why I think we have to make marriage solely a religious convention. I'm agnostic, so my only motivation for my position is defense of the constitution (i.e. related to protection of religion) and support of individual freedom.
