Carrie Massnick

Carrie Massnick I am in th 7th District in WI and have written my congressman, but I also wanted to write you. I feel strongly that this Health Care Reform Bill should not pass. It is ridiculously long and cannot be read, studied, understood within the time frames it has to be passed. Please do everything in your power to SEE THAT IT DOES NOT PASS. IT NEEDS TO BE DEFEATED AND REWRITTEN. Thank you. Carol Massnick

Michael: It's not about living in fear, or escaping from a federal supermax prison. It's about bringing enemies of our state onto our own soil, and trying war criminals in civilian court. These men committed terrorist acts of war against our government and society, attacking our Pentagon in the process, and they should only be tried by military ... Read Moretribunal, and then executed. Giving them a forum to spew their hatred of Western society in an American civilian court is the wrong way to go. They are not criminals. They are terrorists, engaged in war against this country, and should be treated accordingly. The Obama administration has, once again, made the wrong decision.

“The Obama Administration’s primary goal should be to keep terrorists off of U.S. soil, not house them near our homes or give them additional constitutional rights in a court of law.

Spin it however you want my fellow residents of the Fifth District. Here is something for y'all: Article III Section 2 last paragraph. "The trial of all crimes, except in cases of impeachment, shall be by jury; and such trial shall be held in the state where the said crimes shall have been committed; but when not committed within any state, the trial shall be at such place or places as the Congress may by law have directed. Dino, I'll assume that neither of us are Constitutional lawyers. There is now plenty of case law that fills out that section of the Constitution, including at least two amendments and many Supreme Court rulings. Foreign combatants do not necessarily enjoy the same rights as U.S. citizens.

If the U.S. prison in Guantanamo Bay closes, nearly half the inmates could be on their way to a new, but barely used maximum security prison in northern Illinois.

Thanks for sharing. Strict constitutionalists like Bob Barr might like the idea of a civilian trial. Unfortunately, we're in uncharted territory, as the Geneva Convention only deals with uniformed combatants. There is a strong argument that this still falls under a military attack, even though the attackers are not "officially" part of a ... Read Morestanding army, although they are part of a party that wishes to do harm to U.S. civilians and troops. Funny, isn't it, that the same group that attacked the USS Cole and the WTC can be tried either under a military tribunal or in civilian court based on the target.

By the way, did KSM get read his Miranda rights?

Carolyn Olson Congressman Sensenbrenner, Recently there was a video on you-tube that showed you and Rep. John Murtha in a vote situation that Mr. Murtha shut down the vote. Is there any way you can tell me if this is true or not. I know it is difficult to answer these kind of questions, but if possible, I would really appreciate it. Thank you for your brave work. I guess we're still the only developed democracy because the others are socialist which is what San Fran Nan and company want us to be. No thanks. I'll stand with Rep. Sensenbrenner and company. You might want to check your figures a little more closely. There were a lot more than one Republican bill proffered, as you should know.

How many people in this district are paranoid? You do not know the meaning of socialism. It is almost comical listening to some of these accusations. Whatever happened to the thoughtful opposition? Let us have a meaningful debate and steer away from half ignorant diatribes. BTW, if you think there are few stalwart conservatives in the house, I highly reccomend CSPAN. They are not in short supply. I can name quite a few.

You've got real guts, "moxie," we call it in NY. What Murtha did was unpardonable. He should be thrown out of office. He might be outed by process, but with an airport named after him, I doubt it. Three-fourths of his district must be a wholly-owned subsidiary of MURTHA, IN...C.

I've contacted Mel Watt, not that that will do much good. I've also contacted the senators from NC. Don't know what good it will do.

Tell me ... what happens when someone shreds the Constitution. Is it treated like a classified document and fed to the hogs?
