ab There are great prospects in the New Year for the anti-stigma campaign. A windfall tax on the sufferers various benefits will come just in time to fund the monies lost by the caring charities? It'd be neat to see some of this funding given to a full length anti-stigma movie. A real survivors story. Not a triumph ov...er adversity that gives unrealistic expectations but neither a despairing story of utter hopelessness. Something that shows how the various double binds makes it virtually impossible to escape the conditions boundaries once the stigmatising label is applied.

Michael Davies "Damaged people seek eachother out"

Like most people who have been a mental health service user in the UK for a while, I have spent time on the medication chlorpromazine. Mostly for me it has been used to calm me down when I’m really ill, and I have to say, I would still rather have chlorpromazine than haloperidol - even if it pu...

The Cochrane Collaboration will review all treatments for an illness, not just medication, providing they are based on randomized control trials...

I find the way the Chinese have treated this mentally ill man absolutely appalling, he was put to death by lethal injection at 10.30 am this morning knowing that he had a mental health bi polar illness....utterly disgraceful...I for one will never buy anything 'made in China' again......................

Not only our pleasure, our joy and our laughter but also our sorrow,
pain, grief and tears arise from the brain, and the brain alone, with
it we think and understand, see and hear and we discriminate between
the ugly and the beautiful, between what is pleasant and what is
unpleasant and between good and evil." Hippocrates

I heard a great quote recently:
Damaged people are the most dangerous as they know they can survive.
I don't think the quote means 'dangerous' in the proper term but in a more 'resilient' tone methinks

Maggie Bailey, a community mental health worker for Rethink, explains why her whole family will be providing a meal for those experiencing some kind of mental distress this Christmas.

Happy Christmas! From Tunbridge Wells in the snow, with abandoned vehicles on every street corner and juggernauts slipping down the hills on ice. What will the New Year bring?...

Well here it is-Christmas is nearly upon us! For some of us it is a welcome time of year where we can spend that extra bit of time with our families and friends and indulge ourselves with good food and drink. For others it is a difficult time-particularly those of us with any mental health problem...
