Richmond Police Department Today's Good News: A Virginia Commonwealth University student recently wrote to commend the teaching ability and expertise of Joel Moody, the outreach coordinator for the Gang Reduction and Intervention Program. “It helped us to gain a better appreciation for the gang problem in Richmond and surrounding communities. We found this information to be integral to our class discussions.”

Richmond Police Department Today's Good News: Second Precinct evening shift officers conducted a traffic checkpoint last night on Hull Street Road that resulted in 327 cars checked, three towed vehicles, 21 summonses issued, three felony warrants cleared and four misdemeanor arrests. Great work officers!

Richmond Police Department Today's Good News: He’s not even in the Academy yet, but Recruit Jonathan Nathanson stepped up to assist the Department during its quarterly awards ceremony last week. Recruit Nathanson was key in helping the chief hand out more than 200 awards, including pins, plaques and gift bags.

A few tips to help prevent you from possibly becoming a victim: Don’t walk through alleyways or less-traveled roadways. Always walk in well-lit areas when out at night. Richmond Police Department Halloween Safety Tip: Young children should always be accompanied by an adult or an older, responsible child. All children should WALK, not run from house to house and use the sidewalk if available, rather than walk in the street. Children should be cautioned against running out from between parked cars.
