Keeping the focus of the world's religions upon compassion and empathy is vital to the well-being of our world. When religions lose this focus, they tend to become tools for reinforcing the status quo, oppressing women and those who are different, even justifying aggression. The success of this movement can only make the world a happier place.

Watched it, clear and concise on Robert's part, but
the interviewer is in the box. Darn it. We have no
reason not to all be beings of peace in this segment
of the universe. The sickness of hatred and war,
murder and arrogance, pride, wealth and greed can... Read More

the eyes of a wise being-we have mutated away
from pure beings. This is a unique quality only
seen on Earth. From Sumeria, to Babylon, Egypt
to the Aztec and Maya we have evolved away
from productive and nurturing small polities and
occassional warmakers, to modern mega-civilizations
who breed violence as a tool to silence logic,
good knowledge and a peaceful life in a world
only controlled by intelligent freedom.
Oh I give up, whats the point, some would say.
So he makes the great point that we should
all live and be the best we can to each other,
and do no evil, such that the next experience
in the next temporal plane will be much more
pleasant.
Many will attempt to achieve enlightenment but
few make actually delve through the doors of
perception into the hidden realms of true
awareness.
Their are other worlds who have done better
things with their worlds, somewhere they did
not go on the divergent path they could have,
and like the chinese, the sickness of illogic
had deepened and spread as a nationalistic
plague of ethnic superiority. I shudder at the thought.

The interviewer must have had pages of notes on Bucky Fuller because he kept trying to piece together Bucky's thoughts on this and that, and wanted Bob to comment. Fantastic debate and it got great when they pressed forward from Fuller.

I wonder if the Jewish example is informative here, persecuted by the Romans, then a diaspora sustaining a spiritual scholarly tradition for thousands of years. also, the cases of Nepal and Bhutan and Mongolia.

I think I listened to every publicly available video recording of Bob Thurman, but Buddhism is really so simple: Dzogchen + Buddhapalita. what more do you need?

I even read his hermeneutical treatise on Tsongkhapa cover to cover! I would add that Bob Thurman's work on the Vimalakirti Sutra is still his finest (as far as I know).

adaptations or microevolution in the Tibetan
genotype. Do you have any published articles
on this, and also I am looking for the video
of a talk you gave on this subject, but unable
to find it. Concerning; only Tibetans are
adapted to long term residence at these altitudes.

Saw Robert Thurman on Saturday. He was amazing! He had an ability to make ancient texts relevant to a modern audience. And he had a sense of humor. Thank you for sharing.
