Robert McPherson
Jay Nordlinger, writing for The New York Sun, declared that McPherson “boasts an unusual sound: It is sweet, alive, and altogether interesting. Not the kind of sound you hear every day, or that comes from a cookie cutter.”

Wishing you and your beautiful fiancee a very Merry Christmas and a blessed New Year! You two have to come visit my hubby and I in Monterey. It's too stinkin' gorgeous here. Maybe I can find the two of you a singing gig down here and then you could get paid to come enjoy the beauty that is the Central Coast of California!

Robert McPherson Flora, or Hob in the Well

May 29, June 1, 3, 5, 7, 10, & 12, 2010

Text by Colley Cibber
Music by Neely Bruce,
- incorporating the tunes found in early sources

February 18, 1735, Charleston, South Carolina, hosted the first performance of a ballad opera, “Flora, or Hob in the Well,” in the United States, at the New World Th...eatre.

Flora, or Hob in the Well, is a farce revolving around the mishaps of a country bumpkin. Imported from London, it was an English ballad opera, in which dialogue, in this case written by the celebrated English actor-manager and Shakespeare bowdlerizer Coney Cibber, was interspersed with songs adapted from popular tunes of the day.

Robert McPherson has never been to Antwerp or Gent, Belgium before, but found out today that he will be there for a good chunk of time next season. No contracts signed, so I don't want to say too much. BUT it's all very exciting!

Auditions in opera can be weird. You can hear in a few days or sometimes many years later. You just never know.

Sadly Cyn, no vino, but I had some on the inside... where it counts. If they were taking score, it would have been 8 good high Cs out of 9. BUT at least it wasn't the last one that was iffy. I think it was number 7! Not that it was bad, just not as good as it is normally. But the last one was solid and held till just before tasteless. (Ok, maybe a little past it)
