is a fully inclusive community dance project funded by the Jack Petchey
Foundation and led by the Royal Academy of Dance.
Watch the video of last July's live event on the Step into Dance facebook page!
Step into Dance is a fully inclusive, open access dance programme. The programme offers weekly, extra-curricular* dance classes to secondary schools in selected London boroughs. It is a partnership project between the The Jack Petchey Foundation and the Royal Academy of Dance, the programme aims to widen participatio...n in dance for students aged 11 to 16 years. The Jack Petchey Foundation funds the programme which is led by the Royal Academy of Dance. Schools are asked to pay a small commitment fee of £300 per annum to participate in the programme. Aimed at 11-16 year olds, the programme runs throughout the academic year. Schools may benefit from three full terms of dance, if they wish or alternatively they can choose 10 week blocks. Throughout the year there are optional Borough Events, allowing parents / guardians, friends and the wider community to share in the achievements of the young dancers. At the end of the Academic year, Step into Dance LIVE! showcases the work of school groups from all the participating boroughs at a London Theatre. The programme is fully inclusive, meaning that our teachers have experience of working with a range of abilities, including physical and learning disabilities. *In schools with Special Educational Needs dance classes may take place within school hours.Read More
