ShotSpotter A great save by New Haven PD, assisted by their ShotSpotter GLS. A West Haven, CT woman, high on a hallucinogenic mix of Marijuana and PCP, fired off a .40 caliber Smith and Wesson. Law enforcement responded quickly and took the woman into custody without incident. It is quite possible that, given more time, she could have become a threat to herself or others.

Cool, but James: if you're locating gunshots around a VIP, aren't you a bit late to protect him? Except perhaps to locate and quantify the threat if the first shot(s) miss?

Depends entirely. Take the Mumbai attacks as an example: *TWO HOURS* before the locals had a reliable sense for the scope of the attack. The idea betweens GLS-SO is obviously not to prevent the first shot--that we can't do--but to give accurate and timely situational awareness to first responders, which can help prevent the second, third ... and one hundred and fiftieth shots....
