Badges allow first priority admission to the various conference and festival events. There will a badge line and at this time there isn't a pass that allows you to jump ahead in line. Watch sxsw.com though...we have big things in store...but you'll need a badge to the conference(s) you'd like to attend in any case.

Alex Collingwood I've never been to SXSW before and want to go this year. Do you have to purchase a badge for the full week to see the music portion of the festival? Or is it possible to buy tickets for individual shows?

to see some of the huge bands you need to purchase a badge but you'll spend half the time waiting in line to even have a shot at getting into any of those shows... There's free music everywhere and you're better off rsvp'ing to a bunch of parties/venues and seeing a ton of music for free!
